USA-only or North America?
This is where people overspend. Compare the same 5 GB / 30-day allowance:

The regional bundle costs 2.5 times more. It makes sense only if you actually spend meaningful time in Canada or Mexico. For a US trip with a day across the border, a USA plan plus a small plan for the other country still comes out cheaper.

Coverage: cities fine, parks not
In cities and along the interstates, coverage is strong and 5G is common. Many USA plans are listed as 5G on their page; where 5G isn't available the connection falls back to 4G LTE.
The gaps are in the places visitors most want to see:
- Yellowstone — signal mostly near visitor centres and lodges
- Yosemite — some coverage in the valley, little in the high country
- Death Valley, Zion, Arches, Grand Canyon backcountry — long stretches with nothing

How much data
